the prominence of the Wieskirche came about through a religious "wonder".
In this case, it was a fairly prosaic statue of the "Scourged Saviour" which had been taken from the inn of the monastery in Steingaden by a farmer's wife in Wies. In 1738 they claimed that they had seen tears in the eyes of the statue at their evening prayers at
Steingaden, Germany.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE READ***Combined shipping for International orders is not always possible due to the size restrictions for shipping via USPS First Class International Letter Rates. Anything over 1/4 inches thick must be mailed via package rates and those rates are usually quite high so in those cases it may be less expensive to mail items separately. I do my best to save my International buyers as much as possible on shipping rates when I can. All International buyers are responsible for all tax, duties and customs fees. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be before bidding or buying. Also, cost of merchandise will not be undervalued on customs form; doing so is against U.S. and International laws.
