ROCKY FLATS TRAINING ACADEMY
One of the rarest Department of Energy (DoE) patches out there! I could not find another example anywhere I searched.
This shirt belongs in a museum, but in case someone wants to actually wear this shirt from the late ‘80s or early 90’s, I have pointed out some spots of discoloration.
The 2 hats were at the same estate sale in Colorado and represent the USAF Airborne laser project, requiring this Nations Top Secret Q clearance. The blue hat has a Fort Sumter pin and the snap type closure and the white has the strap type closure.
This is one of the only remaining authentic RFTA patches on Earth. How many years was RFTA in operation? 10? How many Instructors cycled through? 10-15? Now that the image is on ebay, it will probably be reproduced at some point, unfortunately.

Overview
Site of a former United States nuclear weapons production facility.
Located northwest of Denver, Colorado.
Operated from 1951 to 1992 under the control of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, later the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
Production ended after the end of the Cold War.
Between 1992 and 2006, site investigated and cleaned up after years of releases to the environment.
